NIER’s world is explicitly a post-human one. The hub world is an abandoned city, with other areas being destroyed apartment complexes, castles, and even an amusement park. All of these buildings have been reclaimed by nature in some way, from overgrown trees growing through the castle to apartments knocked over and sinking into sand dunes. Some of these buildings have been taken over by machines, especially the amusement park and castle. CORVIDAE will have a similar aesthetic, with destroyed buildings being locations for the player to explore. But I want to take it a step further by having Crowfolk build their own structures alongside the ruins, either adding on to existing buildings or constructing spaces themselves. I also am interested in taking it a slightly darker, grimmer direction, showcasing the progression of Earth after thousands of years.
