The inhabitants of the Stranger (referred to as Ghostbirds in production) are tall, intelligent creatures that appear to be a mix of deer and owls. Initially, the player believes them all to have died out, exploring their abandoned civilization. But as the story unfolds, players will meet Ghostbirds on their journey, many being hostile to the player. Carrying lanterns like the player does in the Simulation, they attempt to remove the player by force, blowing out their lantern and sending them back to the real world. CORVIDAE can look at these creatures for examples of threatening birdlike figures, as well as how they interact in the world as inspiration for designs of the Crowfolk.
